Motown Hosts IGBO Mid-Year 2006

January 2005—Detroit has got their engines reving for the upcoming IGBO Mid-Year 2006 tournament being held from November 8-13.

Our host hotel, the Sheraton Detroit Novi, is ready to welcome all the bowlers with a $79.00 (up to 4 people) room rate with 238 newly renovated guest rooms that feature the Sheraton Sleeper Bed. For those of you that have not slept on these beds, you are in for a real treat. Shopping and dining are just minutes away from the hotel, which is conveniently located right off the eight mile exit on I-275. It is also about 15 minutes away from the bowling alley and 25 minutes away from the downtown Detroit area where the casinos are located. The hotel has a pool, whirlpool, sauna and the rooms have wireless high speed internet access available.

The host bowling alley is Clover Lanes which has 64 wood lanes. The bar is conveniently located in the middle of the lanes with 32 lanes on each side. This allows us to accommodate 480 bowlers in just 2 shifts with lanes to spare in case of break down. Clover Lanes has had a strong relationship with the Detroit tournaments for years and are excited to be hosting the IGBO Mid-Year 2006 tournament. We will be bowling the team events on Friday and the singles and doubles events on Saturday. This leaves Sunday free for the scratch masters tournament. There will be many chances to win money at the tournament whether you bowl or not. For the bowlers there will be scratch jackpots, scratch brackets, handicap jackpots (men and women), and handicap brackets.

The Friday and Saturday hospitality suites will be a last person standing which means they will remain open as long as necessary to satisfy our guests. Detroit also has a variety of bars to suite anyone’s taste that are all a short drive from the hotel. For those of you that would like a little international adventure, we are mere minutes away from our neighbors to the north Canada. Windsor is a great city with its own casinos and restaurants.

Please get your entries in early as we expect to sell out and as an added bonus if you get your entries in early the entry fee will be $89 instead of $99. We, the IGBO Mid-Year 2006 committee, look forward to hosting the tournament and seeing all of you there.

Thanks,
Jim Cross
