Gay Games VII, Chicago Update
By Bradford LeHew Republished from April 2006 IGBO Newsletter
April 2005—Greetings IGBOwlers! I know it’s been almost
5 months since we all last saw each other in
Calgary, but I hope no one has forgotten about
the GAY GAMES! Registration is still open,
but there will be a late fee of $20 if you register
after May 1, 2006! Get those registrations
in before the price goes up!! There are still
opportunities out there! We can always use
volunteers to help out with the tournaments
and brackets. Volunteers are also needed in
other areas if you don’t want to work in the
bowling tournament.
If you are coming alone—never fear, Matchmaker
is here! Once you register, you can use
Matchmaker to find a doubles partner and a
team! It’s a great way to experience the true
spirit of the Games and meet new friends from
around the world! See the website for more
details.
I am also pleased to announce that Dick
Uyvari has signed on to co-direct the bowling
event!
We are excited to announce that as of February
15, 2006, more than 8,000 participants
from more than 30 countries have committed
to attending the 7th Gay Games, 15-22 July
2006. Our registration rates to date are ahead
of expectations and we may exceed our forecast
of 12,000 participating athletes and artists
in Chicago this July. Several team sports,
including bowling, saw dramatic increases in
registration during December.
Check out the website for exciting new developments,
events and opportunities. We are
excited to announce that Olympic Diving
Champion Greg Louganis has joined the likes
of Melissa Etheridge, Billy Bean, Sir
Elton John, Billie Jean King, and Rudy
Galindo as a Gay Games Ambassador. Tickets
for the Opening Ceremony at Soldier Field
and Closing Ceremony at Wrigley Field will go
on sale soon!
Please visit www.gaygameschicago.org for all
of your Gay Games needs. If you have bowling
specific questions, please email me at
gaygamesbowling@yahoo.com See you in
Kansas City!
Thanks,
