City Of Fountains Hosts IGBO Annual XXVI 2006
Republished from January 2006 IGBO Newsletter
April 2006—
Did you know that the city in the heart of the
United States, boasts more fountains than
anywhere else in the world, except Rome.
That’s because Kansas City has a city law that
requires 1% of all new construction budgets is to
be allocated for the construction of new fountains?
It’s hard to believe that in less than 90 days of this
issue’s printing, Kansas City will be playing host to
the IGBO 2006 Annual Bowling Tournament.
WHERE DID THE TIME GO ????? Our tournament
committee has been working extremely
hard to make sure that your stay in Kansas City
will be a memorable one.
We received notification from the Westin Crown
Center hotel that as of 1 January, 2006, all
Starwoods properties have gone to NON-SMOKING
rooms. Each room does have a balcony that
can be utilized for smoking. The Westin Crown
Center is located in the heart of the city near several
landmarks and has a four story waterfall in the
main lobby. If you haven’t as of yet made your
hotel reservations, you might want to pick up the
phone or log onto the Internet and make them.
Our room block rate of $79.00 for 1 to 4 persons
will be available only thru the 26th of April. The
hotel will honor these rates for three days before
the tournament and for three days after the tournament
for those who want an extended stay to
see the sites.
The host hotel is within walking distance of several
sponsor bars; however, for those of you who
would prefer to (or need to) ride (we’ve seen the
way some bowlers drink); we will be offering a
complimentary shuttle service to our sponsor bars.
The shuttle will be leaving the Westin starting at
9:00 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday
evening. You must be wearing your bowling badge
to ride the shuttle. The shuttle will be making a
circuit run to all the sponsor bars and will make its
final run starting at 2:00 a.m.
Our Hospitality room will be located in the Washington
Park Room which is on the first floor of
the Westin Crown Center. Our registration room
will be located right next door so you can register
and then walk next door and get your party started.
Due to Missouri State alcohol laws, the hotel can
not serve alcohol after 2:30 a.m.; however, the
hospitality room will remain open for your enjoyment.
Come see why Kansas City has earned its nickname
as the “City of Fountains” and be prepared
to party! Visit our web site at:

We are proud to be hosting IGBO 2006.
