City Of Fountains Hosts IGBO Annual XXVI 2006

October 2005—Would it surprise you to know that a city in
the heart of the U.S. boasts more fountains
than anywhere else in the world except Rome?
Well, look no further than your hosts for the
2006 IGBO Annual Tournament, Kansas City,
MO, where we welcome you to the “City of
Fountains.” Our committee is working hard to
make your visit to KC next May full of fun and
filled with memories.
We headed into fall in high gear with a special
event on Sept. 16th at KC’s historic Folly Theater.
Fall Down Laughing: an evening of hilarious
comedy, features Michele Balan and
Eddie Sarfaty. Many of you will remember
Michele from Milwaukee’s fantastic IGBO
2005 banquet, where she brought down the
house with her fiery brand of comedy and
musings on everything from camping (she
doesn't) to dating (she does) to music festivals
(all that underarm hair!). And she did it again
in Kansas City!
This time she brought along a friend—the hilarious
Eddie Sarfaty. Eddie is the newest
member of the ground-breaking troupe Funny
Gay Males and can be seen this season on Comedy
Central’s Premium Blend. Everyone at the
show had a great time and the evening was
filled with uproarious laughter and plenty of
fun!
We’re busy planning lots more fun for you
during IGBO 2006 weekend. The committee
will be hosting a virtual pub crawl to all of our
sponsor bars during the weekend. All you have
to do is pick up your collection card at registration,
make your rounds to our sponsor bars,
and turn in your card at the banquet for your
chance to win cash prizes.
The women’s outreach event on Saturday
evening is sure to be a hit because instead of a
(boring) Queen’s tea, we’re hosting a wine tasting
party at the hotel featuring a line-up of the
best Missouri wines (yes, Virginia, we do have
vineyards!).
The host hotel for IGBO 2006 is the lavish
Westin Crown Center in the heart of the city
and near several Kansas City bars. The price
isn’t lavish, though, at just $79/night for 1-4
people! The Westin is a four diamond hotel
with completely remodeled rooms. You can

We in Kansas City are proud to be hosting
IGBO 2006 and look forward to seeing everyone
here next May!
