August 2005—Maple Leaf Classic XX was one of the best birthday parties yet. Impossibly, out of 200 attendees, MLC had almost 70 bowlers who have never attended a MLC Tournament before, which is GREAT!

Pat Bottrall of Grand Rapids whipped up a 300 game and a good time was definitely had by all.

The MLC Classique awards were allocated as thus: Tournament Tramp was Keith Kumler of Columbus, OH; Tournament Virgin was won by an 85-year old Joyce Frost, who has never bowled in a tournament before and she says it won’t be her last; Tournament Mess went to none other than Steve Homer of Lansing, MI (ask him why he won that); Tournament Clown (a special award this year) went to Richard Cripps, a.k.a., Miss Hollywood Hollywood, this years tournament MC; Most Hospitable bowler went to Brad Steele (nope, not a porn star) of Toronto; and, Nelliest bowler went to Rick Wright of Grand Rapids, MI. Grand Rapids has been the recipient of the Nelliest bowler award for the past 3 years. Tells you something about those Grand Rapids boys doesn’t it? We might have to look at changing the name...
