IGBO.org Web Site Gets a Facelift
Republished from January 2006 IGBO Newsletter
November 2005—Last summer, the IGBO webmaster team presented an online survey asking for feedback about our Web site, www.igo.org. The survey results and four months of research, development, and testing have come to fruition. As of November 2005, IGBO has a redesigned Web site with a updated look and feel and many new features. The redesign effort is an ongoing, work-in-progress project where changes and new features will be implemented in various phases. The project’s main goal is the following: “Make IGBO Web content, online data administration and member collaboration more accurate, accessible, up-to-date, and self-maintainable. In later phases, member-only content will become more secure by implementing access based on organization role and entitlement.” If you haven’t checked out our new site, you are in for treat. In addition to a graphic update, our updated site now has more intuitive navigation menus, revised section links, and a new site map to help find your way around. You can view a printable format of any Web page on our site, bookmark any page on our site instantly, send any page URL to a friend via e-mail, and send feedback about a specific page on our site to the Webmaster team instantly. The Web survey confirmed that the most-used feature on our site was the tournament search tool. Using our updated Tournament Search Tool, you can now search for upcoming tournaments (next three months or next six months), for tournaments by region, and for tournaments by keyword. The tournament search tool was also consolidated into one, easy-to-use form. Similar functionality enhancements are available with the updated League Search Tool. Now, you can search for leagues by region, bowling center, or keyword. Tournament directors can now include “highlights” of their tournaments (theme, hotel names, room rates, cash prizes, and so on). Also, you can now include your tournament logo on your tournament detail page. According to our survey, the second-most popular feature was the online IGBO Document and Form Library. This area now displays document summaries as well as file download sizes and last modified dates. IGBO members can submit news articles online to be published in the IGBO Newsletter and at IGBO.org. Once the news article is submitted, your content is sent automatically to the IGBO Vice President for executive review. If approved, the article can be published accordingly.
This just scratches the surface of our redesigned Web site. Refer to the document below for more detail on what's new and a list new features in consideration in the upcoming year.
