Welcome back to a new and exciting year of bowling. I would like to welcome three new organizations that were voted in at the general membership meeting in Columbus. Welcome to two new tournaments-RIOT-Jacksonville, Florida and PIC-Pride Invitational Classic, Norcross, GA. In addition, a friendly welcome to the new league Miami Rainbowlers. Also, a special congratulations to Bowled Over Promotions for being awarded a two year contract as IGBO’s exclusive merchandiser. Congratulations Lisa and Dawn and thank you for doing such a great job for IGBO and for the bowling membership. Since the last newsletter there have been three tournaments in our region. Dixie-Atlanta was a great success with 50 teams. Congratulations to Mike Terry and L.E. McLemore and the Dixie committee for an outstanding tournament. Atlanta always puts on a class act. SIT-Orlando remained for the third straight year the largest tournament in the region with 260 bowlers and 65 Teams Congratulations to Scott Stiff, Dawn Kallio and Debbie Karkovice as well as the SIT committee for a very successful and fun tournament. COPIT-Ft Myers continues to be the most surprising tournament in our region. With a “Christmas in July” theme this year was “Winter Carnival” and boy was registration fun with all kinds of games set up to give you a chance to win raffle tickets. I do not think there has ever been anywhere in the IGBO organization a registration with so many fun things to do while doing all of the regular registration stuff. See a special report elsewhere in this newsletter about COPIT. 100 bowlers, had a great time in Ft Myers over the 4th of July weekend. Congratulations to Andy Candeloro and Bill Thomas as well as the COPIT committee for their hard work and dedication to make COPIT one of the “best kept secrets” within the IGBO tournament circuit. Congratulations to Michael Kondalski of Atlanta for receiving the Fellowship Award, which is the highest honor IGBO gives to its members for the contributions they have made to IGBO, their local bowling organizations and their to their local community. Finally, a personal thank you to the many of you who expressed their best wishes and concern after I was struck by a car while crossing a street in the crosswalk. My fractured wrist has been repaired and I bowled in my first tournament when I attended BEATIT in New Orleans. Have a great new year of bowling and I hope to see many of you in the upcoming tournaments in our region and across all of IGBO. In Unity, Fellowship and Communication
