Hi All,

Firstly, we would like to thank you for your on-going support for Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022!

We have some big news to share with you.

After much internal deliberation and in consultation with the FGG leadership and board, it has been decided today that Gay Games 11, originally scheduled for November 2022, will be postponed to November 2023 in Hong Kong.

This decision has been made primarily due to the unpredictable progression of COVID variants and the corresponding travel restrictions that continue to make it challenging for participants from around the world to make plans to travel to Hong Kong.

We want to honour our original vision of organising the most inclusive and diverse Gay Games yet. With many parts of the world, including many across Asia, still struggling to contain the virus and facing uneven access to vaccines, we felt that delaying the Games until November 2023 will enhance the likelihood of delivering on our promise to have the Hong Kong Games serve as a beacon of hope for the wider community.

Given the ongoing uncertainty regarding the state of travel restrictions internationally and in Hong Kong, the decision to postpone the Games has also been made now to give sufficient time for you to make alternate arrangements for your 2022 tournaments and also to develop an appropriate training schedule for the Games in 2023.

Postponement gives us, and participants around the world, added certainty that we can deliver on our promise to unite and celebrate diversity with the widest possible attendance from Asia and internationally.

The exact date in 2023 will be announced soon, after further consultation with the Federation of Gay Games,. We will provide further details at the upcoming AGA in November 2021.

We appreciate your continued support and look forward to seeing you at this historic event in 2023.

Best regards,

Gay Games 11 Hong Kong Team
