About the League
Tavern Guild Invitational Bowling League was founded in 1997 and is a friendly non-competitive organization. The Tavernguild is sanctioned with the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and the International Gay Bowling Organization (IGBO). The Tavernguild is sponsored by Storm Bowling, the Official Bowling Equipment manufacturer of the Tavernguild. The Tavernguild is an LGBTQ+ diverse organization with members from all walks of life. The Tavern Guild has something for everyone, whether you're in your 20's or your 80's we welcome you to join us and participate in our sport in a safe environment among family and friends. Only the third League President since it's inception, Eric Ott took over the reigns in 2014 and has been running things ever since. Eric started out as a bowler which is where his nickname "Snooky" came about. Snooky became the Vice President in 2012, adding Web Master to his title in 2013. Along the way, Eric became a board member of USBC. In addition to all this, Eric also has been involved as a Director of the Los Angeles Silver Screen Invitational Bowling Tournament in 2015, and still runs the mini tournaments 6 times a year at either Cal Bowl or Corbin. Of the Tavern Guild, Eric says, “we are currently the only USBC sanctioned LGBTQ+ bowling league in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley. In addition, we are the only IGBO Sanctioned League in Northern Los Angeles County. We have bowlers aging from 21 to 91 (YES, 91!!) actively participating. We have members who have been bowling with us since it was formed 30 years ago, and we hope to have all of our members for another 30 years! We consider our members a part of our family. We don’t care about labels or pronouns. We care about respect for the other members of our family and that our members enjoy themselves in a safe environment." And so, starting a new chapter in the TGL, the Tavernguild relocated to a new home, CORBIN BOWL, in 2024.
