Tournament Average Database

What is TAD?

IGBO maintains a database of scores of all participants in each IGBO tournament throughout the year. Game scores from tournaments are many times more representative of how any particular bowler might perform in a tournament versus averages from various leagues they might bowl throughout the year. The database also provides an avenue for more casual bowlers who might only bowl tournaments to maintain scores acceptable to a tournament for establishing an entering average. The database includes all games bowled during the tournament, both the games from the handicap portion of the tournament as well as any games from optional scratch events.

How do I access my information in the TAD?

For privacy reasons, the database is a closed system that requires authorization to access. Any member of IGBO may login to the database using their IGBO Account to view their own scores that have been submitted by various tournaments. If you don’t have an IGBO Account, you may sign up for one for free. We only require your full name and a unique email address, preferably one you use for all league and tournament activities in IGBO. Once you sign up, you’ll receive an email from noreply@igbo.org asking you to confirm your email address. Simply click on the link inside to confirm. If you don’t see the email, please check your junk or spam folder.

Is my information private?

The information you directly supply to IGBO and information obtained from member tournaments via tournament scores submission is considered private and is not shared beyond the IGBO Organization. The IGBO Organization and approved IGBO tournament committee members are allowed to obtain average information along with your name, email address, sanction number and other information required for participation in an IGBO tournament. Anyone accessing the database is required to agree to IGBO’s Online Resources Privacy Policy which requires personal information not be shared beyond the IGBO Organization or tournament committee, and only for the purpose of IGBO membership operations or hosting the tournament.

I’m a tournament director or statistician. How do I gain access to search the average database?

Once you have an IGBO Account, please access Help and choose I need help with: Obtaining tournament level access. If you have additional members of your committee who require access to the database, please include their IGBO Account email addresses in the Additional Notes section. Please note that if your tournament fails to submit scores to the TAD, you could lose access to the database.

Are we required to submit our tournament’s scores?

Yes. You are required to submit all scores from your tournament within 30 days following the end of your tournament. Failing to do so can result in suspension of your IGBO membership.

What is required to be in OUR submission?

We require a file in CSV (comma separated variable) format which you can easily obtain using any spreadsheet program. The CSV file should contain participant identifying data along with scoring information from the tournament. We provide a template you can use to ensure you have all the required information for each bowler. In addition, we require the name of your tournament, the city and state where it was held, the tournament contact’s name, email address and telephone number. This can be either the statistician or the tournament director depending on who would prefer to receive communications regarding the tournament.

If we use IGBO-TS, can I use the TAD export feature?

Yes. The TAD export in IGBO-TS will export all of the bowler information you need to provide. Beyond that, we require the name of your tournament, the city and state where it was held, the tournament contact’s name, email address and telephone number. This can be either the statistician or the tournament director depending on who would prefer to receive communications regarding the tournament. You can add this information to the top of your CSV file as shown in the template.

What happened to the old IGBO ID?

We no longer use the old IGBO ID for the TAD. Instead, we use a bowler’s email address along with their sanction number to uniquely identify a bowler. If the bowler is not a member of a sanctioning organization, we will create a random sanction ID of the format IGBO-xxxxxxxxxx, where the x’s represent a varying number of randomly assigned numerals.

Why can’t emails be duplicated?

We use your email address to authenticate you in order to access the TAD. Because of this, the value must be unique. If a bowler’s scores are submitted without an email address or a shared address, one will be created for them, however, since it will be a non-functional email address, it will not allow them access to the database.

What are the OrgNumber and IAEGame fields?

Those fields are named as such because they are holdovers from the IGBO Tournament Software that many tournaments still use. OrgNumber is the bowler’s sanction number, and, yes, the dash is important if it’s a USBC number you are using! IAEGame is the number of games bowled during the handicap tournament. This does not include any optional event games or scratch masters games.

How do I submit OUR SCORES?

Please make certain you are using either the file exported from IGBO-TS or following the Official IGBO TAD Template, both of which should be CSV (comma separated variable) files. In order to speed the inclusion of your tournament in the database, please make sure that you all information is accurate and complete. Once you are ready to submit, please send your file to TAD Submissions.
