IGBO Gives Back: Uplifting Lives—Both Human and Animal—in Las Vegas 🫶🐾
During the IGBO Annual 2025 Tournament and Conference, “IGBO Gives Back” continued its mission of community support with two heartwarming volunteer events in Las Vegas—one focused on helping families thrive, and the other on caring for animals in need.
Supporting Families Through Assisting Lives in Las Vegas
On Saturday, IGBO volunteers partnered with Assisting Lives in Las Vegas, a remarkable organization renowned for its bustling thrift store and unwavering commitment to uplifting families. Volunteers spent the morning sorting, organizing, and preparing donations for sale—each item destined to contribute to a bigger cause.
Through thrift store sales and generous charitable contributions, Assisting Lives provides essentials like new clothes, shoes, backpacks, and books to children whose families face financial hardships. Their impact extends even further, offering scholarships and delivering thoughtful educational puppet shows on sensitive topics such as divorce, ADHD, and diabetes in elementary schools. And that’s just the beginning.

Lending a Hand (and Treats!) at The Animal Foundation
On Sunday, another group of IGBO volunteers spent the day at The Animal Foundation of Las Vegas, one of the highest-volume animal shelters in the U.S., with a mission to save every healthy and treatable animal in the valley.
Our team rolled up their sleeves in the laundry room—washing bedding, towels, toys, and anything else that furry friends rely on for comfort. Every time clean items hit the shelf, staff swooped in to use them, highlighting just how constant and critical the need is.
Others tackled the kitchen, washing food bowls and Kong toys, then joyfully stuffing the toys with peanut butter and preparing food bags. After all the hard work, our volunteers were rewarded with tail wags and sloppy kisses as they handed out treats to the many dogs patiently waiting for their forever homes.
We may have left with fur-covered clothes, but our hearts were full.
